History
Illinois became a state on December 3, 1818. It was the 21st state.
Native Americans discovered the land in 1673.
Settlers arrived in the area in 1720.
Over 12 Native America tribes Lived in the land that is Illinois.
The first to settle were the Europeans.
Illinois was a slaved state. But it was free in1863.
